Terry Garchinski

Terry Garchinski, B.A. B.S.W., M.S.W., R.S.W, is founder and President of Life Works Counselling and Training Services Inc. and owner of Bagman Productions www.thebagman.com .

Terry is an experienced and dynamic trainer, facilitator and speaker, designing and facilitating numerous workshops and programs for various client groups: Inuit and First Nations, governments, non-government, industries, business, medical and educational institutes, in communities throughout Canada. The majority of his work is delivered in cross-cultural environments.

As a trained professional with an education in Social Work, Philosophy and Counselling, he works as a Therapeutic Counsellor and Trauma Specialist, providing a broad range of counselling services and issues. Terry is a member of the Alberta College of Social Workers.

He is registered as a service provider with Health Canada, Residential School Resolution Health Support Program, Northern Region (Yukon, NWT and Nunavut).

Terry received the Recipient of the 2005 Social Work Distinguished Service Award; recognized by the Association of Northern Social Workers in Northern Canada for his compassionate and creative therapeutic work in counselling and workshop facilitation throughout the Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut.

Terry’s life and cultural experiences include working in aboriginal communities throughout Canada, teaching English in Peru; working as a volunteer for Hogar Belen, a children’s orphanage in Peru; and living the life experience of a homeless person on the streets of numerous cities throughout Canada and United States.  Terry is also author of the book “I Believe”, and in 2010, he released his musical CD “Healing Ground”. With Ilisaqsivik Society, he has authored the books “Our Life’s Journey: The Inuit Counsellors’ Training and Mentorship Manual”, and “Facilitating Participant-Centered Healing Workshops”.  Until recently, Terry was President of the No Ordinary Journey Foundation (www.nojfoundation.com), and is a Board Member of the Fly Kids Foundation (www.flykid.ca).
